IBC’ 24 will be based in the historic ranching town of Waimea (aka Kamuela) in the Big Island’s northern region (what Dr. Beachcomb refers to as the “Golden Triangle”). Kamuela is a cooler upland town nestled at the base of (dormant) Mauna Kea volcano, which at 33,000 feet from sea level to summit, reigns supreme as the worlds’ tallest mountain (though only
13, 803 feet are exposed.) The town boasts some wonderful restaurants and coffee shops, galleries and gift shops, and is less than a 15-minute drive down the hill to ocean beaches and spectacular 5-star resorts, and equidistant between Hilo and Kona-side beaches.

LODGING

Ground zero will be at the Kamuela Inn, where Conference tutorials, group dinners, arts classes and the swap table will be based. IBC attendees who chose to book rooms there will benefit from free breakfasts and discounted group rates for up to 3 days before, during and after the conference. (The discount booking code will be given on receipt of registration and payment.)

Some rooms have kitchens and can comfortably hold 3-4 people so consider room-sharing to cut down on expenses.

NOTE: Kamuela is a popular destination. The Inn can book up quickly so if that’s where you plan to stay, we suggest you book soon after registering.
